Ealing Collision Victim who Died of her Injuries Named as Ex Met Officer

The cyclist suffered "serious injuries" after a collision in west Ealing

A former Metropolitan Police officer who suffered fatal injuries in a west Ealing collision was part of their “police family”, a spokesman for the force said.
The victim, named by police as 51-year-old Claudia Manera, died on Thursday (October 19) after her bicycle collided with a lorry in Uxbridge Road the previous week.
The personal trainer, who stopped working for the Metropolitan Policelast year, was set to return to the force this week as a special constable.
In a heartfelt tribute, Superintendent Robert Mahoney said that the Italian national always went above and beyond to help others.

A helicopter landed on Thursday (October 12) and rushed the cyclist to hospital

Ms Manera was airlifted to an east London hospital but died of her injuries on Thursday (October 19) evening, a police spokesman confirmed.
The Italian national took dual nationality in 2015 and had run the marathon four times, according to the Evening Standard .
A colleague who worked with Ms Manera during her career as a personal trainer described her as a “loving, gentle lady”.
Katherine Beesley, of west Ealing, said: “Everyone was just so fond of Claudia and her passion for running and fitness.
“She was such a loving, gentle and kind lady - it's such a devastating loss for the community, she was an absolutely lovely girl."

Claudia Manera, seventh from the right in a white shirt, died on Thursday (October 19)

She added: “It was only a couple of years ago she qualified and came into the fitness side of things, she loved it and was so passionate about it.
“She actually said to one of the members the other day she was the happiest she has ever been in her life, which is kind of bittersweet.”
